How do I repair/compress the database?

If you get the error message “Unrecognized database format” or “The Microsoft Jet Database Engine has stopped working”, the action is to try to repair and compress the database.

  1. Go to the database folder (if you don’t know the path by heart, go to HelpSystem information > Database path and double click on this row).
  2. If it is doesn’t already exist, create a folder called “Backup“.
  3. Create a copy of mdb (the database file) and put the copy in the backup folder.
  4. Rename the backup file to the current date, such as mdb.
  5. You can also create a copy of oldc(the compressed copy of the database), if you have it.
  6. Do a simple repair of the database (see the section for Simple repair of the databasebelow).
  7. Upon a successful reparation, you also need to do a compression This is because the database is reduced and gets rid of unnecessary storage, but it is also a good way to check that the database was properly repaired.

Simple repair of the database

  1. Make sure that all users have closed their Lime Easy application. Try deleting the file ldb, which is located in the database folder. If it can’t be deleted, it means that someone still has Lime Easy running, or that the file is stuck somewhere on the server.
  2. Start the Lime Easy database manager(you should be able to search for it in the Windows Start Menu) and do the reparation. If it works, you should run a compression immediately afterwards. You should be able to do both successfully for the database to be in good shape.
  3. Start Lime Easy to check that the reparation was successful.

If the reparation or compressing of the database fails, the database needs to be repaired manually. Upload the database file kontakt.mdb to our upload page: https://transfer.lime.tech/filedrop/support and contact our support team at +46-46-270 48 00 or info@lime.tech.
